Logitech G703 Long Term Review

Disclaimer: This is my first online review so hopefully it will turn out well :>

I had this Logitech G703 Lightspeed for a little over 5 years now. This buddy here has been a fantastic mouse for me and never once had it failed me in terms of reliability / usage. Just a small note about my hand size. It is 17.5cm long and 8.5cm wide, and I typically use claw grip for my gaming session and relax palm when I am working.

Build Quality

The build quality is fantastic here on this mouse. There are no noticeable creaking when pressed hard on both side of the mouse, and not much rattle as well when shaking it "HARD". Needed to emphasize on the "HARD" part since I doubt people will actually do that in day-to-day usage. In terms of reliability as well, I think it held up well throughout the past 5 year. Never once had I needed to send it to service / warranty claims. So, it's a 9.0/10 for me on this. I guess my only complain will be the rubber side that deteriorate over time, but hey it's just a general wear and tear.

Switches

In terms of switches, Logitech has stuck to their tried and tested product. The same Omron switch that you can find on all Logitech G series of mouse. Are there any complains for this? Nah. It provides solid tactile feedback, and the clicks are very affirmative. I do know that there are lots of people whom are facing the double click issue on this particular variant of switch, but I have a quick hack that worked for me at least. Turn off the mouse and click on the switches for a few times to let it discharge. Once done, turn it back on again and the double click issue just vanish "Valaa"

Cord

The Logitech G703 comes with a stiff micro-USB cable with that stupid trident looking prong at the end. To me this is probably the worst implementation of a cable. Not only it limits the cable option that we can use to recharge the mouse, "duh" since they have the prong receiving part at the charging port of the mouse, and also, I think Micro-USB should be replaced with the industrial standard type-C now. Come on Logitech, you can do better. The cable is stiff as heck as well, so I much rather not to game with it.

Scroll Wheel

The scroll wheel it self is great. It has a good tactility to it when scrolling and it is not too heavy as well for mouse wheel jump in CSGO and also some scroll reading. Personally, I do prefer it to be maybe slightly lighter. But this is just a preference.

Battery Life

What can I say about the battery life? Oh well, it's fantastic! Alright, I do know that this is really dependent on how it is being used and also how the settings are done. But I guess I will share my personal settings. Personally, I kept it to 500hz for polling rate and all RGB all off, half of the time my mouse is covered by my hands anyway. In terms of actual usage, it generally lasted me about a month of gaming + browsing. My usage should be around 3-5 hours a day, some days may vary. Whenever it gives a low battery warning, I will just do a quick plug in with the ridiculous micro-usb cable and maybe go for a quick lunch.

Notes

In my opinion, this is definitely one of the mice I can safely recommend to any person that are interested in an ergonomic design. It has fantastic build quality, top tier sensors, great buttons and fantastic battery life. I guess my only complaint for it will be the stupid jarring micro-usb cable that always reminds me of Poseidon and probably just the rubber coating on the side.
